Spotlight on Elizabeth Johnson, CSJ
Woman of Notre Dame
Elizabeth A. Johnson, CSJ, is distinguished Professor of
Theology at Fordham University and the author of a large
volume of works on Mary of Nazareth. A leading feminist
theologian, Elizabeth Johnson infuses her intellectual
studies with deep social responsibility.
Elizabeth Johnson's life and work were profoundly
influenced by the December 1980 murder of three nuns
and a lay missionary in El Salvador. She continues to
honor the memory of these four churchwomen in her
writings and gives voice to women through works such as
She Who Is and Truly Our Sister.
